RIS Green 2025: environment, youth and innovation at the heart of Rally Italia Sardegna
A programme of environmental, educational and social initiatives alongside the FIA World Rally Championship round in Sardinia. Schools, institutions, families and local communities are key players in a drive for a more sustainable future. The symbolic tree planting event will take place on Friday 6 June along the Olbia cycle path.
Olbia, 3 June 2025 – The RIS Green project returns once again as the environmental programme supporting the Italian round of the FIA World Rally Championship, set to take place from 4 to 8 June in Sardinia.
With its outstanding natural heritage, the Region of Sardinia offers the perfect setting for an international motorsport event that combines spectacle with responsibility. Thanks to the efforts of the Automobile Club d’Italia and the support of the Region, RIS Green has become a core component in the achievement of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme’s three-star level.
The flagship initiative of RIS Green 2025 will be the planting of new tree species along a section of the Olbia cycle path, scheduled for Friday 6 June at 16:00. Organised in collaboration with FORESTAS, CIPNES (North East Sardinia – Gallura Industrial Consortium) and the Automobile Club Sassari, this initiative is a concrete gesture for the local area and a strong environmental statement connected to the world rally. It continues a tradition of commitment that Rally Italia Sardegna has developed over many editions.
In line with sustainability goals, a dedicated green mobility service will be active throughout the event at “Casa ACI”, offering electric vehicles and pedal-assist bicycles for staff use. With the 2025 layout including the Service Park at Isola Bianca, HQ at the port, and the Media Centre at the Archaeological Museum, this solution will significantly reduce emissions from staff movements.
Best environmental practices will also support rally operations, including the distribution of aluminium water bottles to cut down on single-use plastic, and the promotion of guidelines for waste sorting and water conservation across key rally areas such as the Service Park, HQ, regroups, and special stages.
Further activities will include educational sessions on the energy transition and sustainable mobility, along with school events focused on road safety, environmental awareness and the rule of law. This integrated approach – combining sport, local protection, innovation and a culture of sustainability – aligns with the goals of both the FIA and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia – European Region of Sport 2026.

11:00 – 12:30 – Discussion on: “Drugs and young people”. Speakers: Dr Filiberto Mastrapasqua (Chief of Police, Sassari), Dr Inti Piras (Head of Sassari Traffic Police), Dr Antonio Pignataro (Advisor, Department for Anti-Drug Policies – Presidency of the Council of Ministers), Dr Gianfranca Nieddu (Psychiatrist, Head of the Alcohol Unit, Mental Health and Addictions Department, ASL 1 Sassari)
