19.10.2023 – The calendar for the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship season has been unveiled following a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council held on Thursday, October 19. The thirteen rounds of the upcoming world championship season will include the Rally Italia Sardegna, which, following the renewed agreement at the end of 2022 between the Automobile Club d'Italia and WRC Promoter, will have world status until 2025.

The world championship event will take place from May 30th to June 2nd, 2024, with its base in Alghero this time, as it is alternating with the city of Olbia. It will once again involve the Autonomous Region of Sardinia in the organization of the world stage, which marks its twenty-first edition. This ongoing journey began in 2004 and has given the event increasing international visibility over time, thanks to its unique special stages and promotion of the region.

In 2023, during the 20th Rally Italia Sardegna, the victory went to the Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT crew of Thierry Neuville and Martjin Wydaeghe, driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally1. The Belgian duo stood on the top step of the podium, followed by their teammate Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm in another i20 N Rally1, with Kalle Rovanpera and Jonne Halttunen in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 finishing third.
