Rally Italia Sardegna: reactions from the crews after the opening four stages

Adrien Fourmaux, Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team: “The feeling in the car was very nice I was pleased with my driving there were places where I felt I could be faster but it was also risky with rocks coming out from the sand. Many places where maybe I was not pushing enough but I think the way not to get punctures. Sometimes was difficult to find the balance, but very pleased to be leading now at midday but the aim is to lead tonight. This morning we saw too many punctures in RC 1 class not so often we see that so I am quite worried for the afternoon so important to stay out of problems.”

Thierry Neuville, Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team: "Clean morning loop it wasn’t exceptional but clean enough to be in P2 but this afternoon it is going to be rough out there , we have seen already lots of punctures, we hope to stay out of trouble this afternoon this is the main goal, getting at the end of this long and tough rally. The target is getting through the rally and secure a good result at the end of the weekend. Difficult to say if there is a sweet position because it is very sandy, there were sections where there was lots of cleaning and sections where it was so soft it felt like driving on the beech. So very challenging and the splits went up and down as well. At the end I was happy with the my position I was able to turn around a few stones , a little dusty the last one driving behind Taka."

Oliver Solberg, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT: “Clean morning loop it wasn’t exceptional but clean enough to be in P2 but this afternoon it is going to be rough out there , we have seen already lots of punctures, we hope to stay out of trouble this afternoon this is the main goal, getting at the end of this long and tough rally. Elfyn Evans, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT: “The feelings on the first stages perhaps even better than expected, the cleaning effect maybe not as bib as we anticipated. But afterwards it was where the guys in the back had quite a big advantage but we are still at the beginning.”

Sami Pajari, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT: “We are quite well in the fight maybe we were expecting even more time loss, so what we have now it’s not too bad so I’m quite happy.”

Roberto Daprà, ACI Team Italia: “We started very well, and I didn’t expect to be this close to the leaders. There is still a very, very long way to go and it won’t be easy: the second loop this afternoon will be even tougher. We made a mistake on the second stage and lost a few seconds, but the gaps are still very small. Now we’ll go through the onboard videos, work on the pace notes and try to improve.”

Giovanni Trentin, ACI Team Italia: “Tula was going well, but then we had a technical issue and lost 20 seconds. On the second stage we tried to push, while on the third we picked up a puncture. Overall, we’re happy with the pace we’ve shown and we want to keep pushing hard”.
