The event organised by the Automobile Club d'Italia with the support of the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna enters the decisive phase of its countdown to the 23rd edition. Entries will remain open until 1 September.

Alghero (SS), 1 August 2026 – Entries officially open today for Rally Italia Sardegna, Italy's round of the FIA World Rally Championship, which from 1 to 4 October will once again bring the spectacle of world rallying to the gravel roads of the Island of the Four Moors. Organised by the Automobile Club d'Italia with the support of the Regione Sardegna, Rally Italia Sardegna will host the thirteenth and penultimate round of the FIA World Rally Championship, while also counting towards the WRC2 and WRC3 championships.

From today, competitors and teams can officially submit their entries for the 23rd edition of Italy's FIA World Rally Championship event. Entries will remain open until 1 September, in accordance with the Supplementary Regulations, which are available from today on the official website rallyitaliasardegna.com.

With just two months remaining until the start, the event now enters its operational phase, as the rally returns to Alghero under the established alternation with Olbia. The 2026 edition will feature a compact yet technically demanding route, mainly developed across the Monte Acuto, Anglona and Nurra regions, with the welcome return of classic stages such as Tergu and Argentiera, alongside the debut of the brand-new Solorché stage in the Pattada area. The programme will begin on Thursday 1 October with the shakedown, followed in the afternoon by the ceremonial start in Alghero and the spectacular Ittiri Arena Show, which will officially launch the rally. Three full days of gravel competition will then follow, featuring a total of 17 special stages and 309.36 competitive kilometres.

On Friday 2 October, the route will head through Gallura and Monte Acuto, with two passes over Tula-Erula, renowned for its spectacular jumps among the wind turbines, Su Filigosu-Lerno, a demanding and highly technical stage, and Monti di Alà-Lerno, famous for its stunning scenery, for a total of 120.90 competitive kilometres.

On Saturday 3 October, the action will focus on the Monte Acuto area with two runs over Lerno-Monti di Alà, featuring the spectacular Micky's Jump, Coiluna-Loelle, with its Loelle Arena, cork forest section and hairpin in front of the ancient Nuraghe, as well as the all-new Solorché, an entirely new and challenging test. The day will cover 124.76 competitive kilometres.

The rally will conclude on Sunday 4 October with two passes over the classic Osilo-Tergu and Sassari-Argentiera stages, totalling 61.62 competitive kilometres. The latter will once again host the deciding Power Stage, set against one of the most spectacular coastal backdrops in world rallying, before the podium ceremony in Alghero, scheduled for 17:00. Throughout the event, the Service Park will be located along Alghero's seafront promenade, serving as the operational hub for teams and crews.
