The Estonian in the Hyundai i20 wins two of the four stages run today and takes the lead ahead of Ogier and Katsuta.

Alghero (SS) 1 June 2024. Rally Italia Sardegna has started its second day of competition with the first four stages - eight so far in total. There was a change at the top with Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveoja in the Hyundai i20 N of the Shell Mobis WRT, who, despite a problem with the front bonnet on the day's opening special stage, won it and repeated on SS 8. The Estonian crew snatched the lead in the standings from the hands of Sebastien Ogier and Vincent Landais in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 chasing at 3"5, despite a wheel damage in the first special stage, but they got the scratch on SS6. Third place for Thierry Neuville and Martjn Wydaeghe - the world championship leader - in the Hyundai i20 N, who won SS 7 and then slipped off the road on the next stage. Now Takamoto Katsuta in the Toyota GR Yaris is third, while Daniel Sordo in the Hyundai, in 4th place ahead of Elfyn Evans, who completes the provisional top five.

Sami Pajari and Enni Malkonen are leading the WRC2 standings in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

The itinerary still foresees four more stages: ‘Monte Lerno’ (Km 25.33) at 14.05 and 17.05; ‘Coiluna - Loelle’ (Km 14.53) at 15.05 and 18.05. Return to Alghero at 20.27.
