A technological partnership to monitor flows and ensure a safe, efficient, and sustainable event.

Alghero, May, 20th 2024 - Rally Italia Sardegna looks to the future, thanks to the innovative and forward-thinking collaboration with WiData, which will be a partner of the event organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia with the support of the Region of Sardinia, aimed at controlling and safeguarding access flows.

The only Italian stage of the FIA World Rally Championship 2024, scheduled from May 29th to June 2nd with its base in Alghero, will, as usual, see the participation of rally enthusiasts worldwide. The collaboration with WiData, an Italian company specializing in data-driven solutions, innovation through the Internet of Things, and Data Analysis, aims to implement an advanced monitoring system of attendance flows during the event.

Monitoring is crucial to ensure safety, efficient resource management, and minimization of environmental impact. Using technologies developed by WiData, it will be possible to obtain precise and real-time insight into the presence and movements of spectators in strategic areas of the rally, not only in the special stages.

The project involves the installation of 12 Wi-Fi sensors in six areas of interest along the rally route: Service Area and podium in Alghero, Ittiri Arena, Micky's Jump in Monte Lerno, Loelle Arena in the famous final stretch of “Coiluna-Loelle,” and at Argentiera on the final Power Stage.

These devices will be placed at key points within pre-established dates during the rally days to monitor the flow of people entering and exiting constantly. The collected data will be transmitted live to WiData's Xplore platform, accessible via specific credentials provided to authorized personnel who, directly from the Race Direction, will be able to monitor operational scenarios and make all necessary decisions.

Detailed reports will also be produced by industry specialists, who will analyze the collected data and assess attendance dynamics and any identified criticalities for better flow management in the future. Data collection and analysis will enable the implementation of effective measures to ensure a safe, sustainable event in compliance with current regulations, as well as provide a clear picture of the human and economic impact on the territory of Sardinia.
