Rally Italia Sardegna turns 15 years old. The race on the island started in 2004 and is still here. The race will take place in the week 4 to 10 June 2018 and the round of the FIA WRC Championship confirms Alghero as base for the Service Park and the Rally HQ and aims to a vast TV coverage. There will be 5 live stages: the SSS Ittiri on Thursday 7th June, Coiluna-Loelle on Saturday 9th June and two passes on the Power Stage on Sunday 10th June.
The 2018 Service Park will be always located along the docks of the tourist harbour, the “ramblas” of the Bousquets promenade and piazzale della Pace, while the Rally HQ will be always located at Lu Qualté, an historic building completed restored and that re-opend in 2015. Calata Sassari and its ramparts will host the night Park Fermé of each day of the event and the Podium hosting the Ceremonial Start and the final arrival of the rally together with the Prizegiving ceremony. On the Podium there will be also shows and collateral initiatives throughout the event.
From a sporting point of view, the Rally Italia Sardegna 2018 will have 21 special stages for over 310 timed kilometers on a total of almost 1,500 kilometers of length. The event will begin on Monday 4 June with the opening of the sports secretary, while the reconnaissance of the route will take place on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 June. The first competitive parts will be the shakedown and the SSS1 Ittiri Arena Show, respectively scheduled for the morning and afternoon on Thursday 7 June. After three days of competition, the Rally Italia Sardegna will end with the traditional party on the arrival Podium, Sunday 10 June at 14.30, preceded by the consolidated Power Stage Sassari-Argentiera scheduled at 12.18. The Power Stage, but also the Coiluna-Loelle on Saturday 9 June at 9.08 am and at 3.08 pm, will be broadcast live on television, while the whole Rally will be live on Wrc.com’s WRC+ new All Live platform.
